Mine covers freshwater and saltwater aquariums. There are a whole bunch of different species of fish out there.

I wanted one that was just on freshwater but couldn't find one. I saw Saltwater tanks for dummies but none for freshwater tanks for dummies.Guess I'll have to go to a bookstore. I got mine at Petsmart.

I have a book on bettas. Its called The Betta Handbook by Dr Robert J Goldstein, PhD. It tells about the different types of bettas; mouthbrooders and wild types. There are some great pics in it. It tells about feeding, maintaining an aquarium, breeding etc. Some of the content is kind of "scientific" because it talks about genetics, betta history and all that stuff. But its a good book.I'm gonna look for freshwater for dummies, too.

Yup thats the betta book i have to lol. Oh im so excited, the ammonia goes down a bit,its sitting at a 1 for 12hours now. Thats since I did a 25% water change. It was 2 before that. I also added the stability stuff, though people told me to do it the regular way lol. I tend to not listen sometimes..heh....Oh and i tested for nitrites and nitrates, they were both at a 0 the other day,but today i have a nitrite of .25 and a nitrate of 5.0! So that stuff is doing something lol. I also took some gravel from my sisters tank while i was there, threw that in to help things along. Hehehe. I have to look up what levels are considered "danger zone" as my book calls it. Cause im not sure really. Says if they are in the danger zone then do a wc otherwise leave it alone. Eh. I know i prolly lost ya there, but ah well. If it does work within a week like the bottle says, i say give it a try for your bettas. Be a good thing for sure. Ill keep ya updated on it.

It sounds like your book has good info on cycling. Mine talks about it but doesn't go into detail about the readings and what they mean.

Oh that stinks. yeah its very explanatory in a simple way. Most things ive hard just confused the heck outta me. So im glad i think i have it figured out lol. Fishy was happy to see me when i just went up,soon as he saw me he swam so fast to the front and did his lil wiggle dance/swim hehe. He blew me some more bubbles too. They kinda got messed up when i did the wc and put in new plants oops. But glad hes happy again!
