I just read your thread on the guppy babies. Was that what you were concerned about when you asked about the betta scavenging? Bettas will eat the guppy fry.

No, it wasn't. I knew that part, but thank u. I was asking cause my betta just tried to eat an already dead tetra, that I know he didn't kill. He ate the eyeballs (yesterday) and now I get home and see that his 'stomach' (right behind his gills and below em) is severely swollen and he won't eat.

Yeah, they WILL eat off of dead fish. I think that someone else posted about their betta eating part of a neon tetra. I know they will eat the fry of other fish. They'll eat their own fry too. Just fast him for a few days and see what happens. I hope he'll be okay.

Betta's are a carnivorous fish so they will scavange other dead fish. If he is bloated them try giving him a flake or 2 of tropical fish flakes(they are all vegetable and high in fiber), then fast him for 2 to 3 days and he should pass the poo quickly.

Sry it's been so long since I updated, but Mu died during the night after I posted this. Things've been so hectic I haven't had time to get on. Thank u all of you though. I'll know next time (which there hopefully won't be one) it happens.
