Question Reflective Patches?

My little girl, Kiki, has four patches on her face, two on either side, that are very reflective. One is white, the other red. Because they're symmetrical, I don't think there is anything wrong with her, but I haven't seen them on other bettas. I'm wondering if anyone could shed light on this mystery. She didn't have these when I first got her, but all her colors have gotten brighter since then.

It's just the random shiny-ness that bettas' gill plates have. :)

Thanks! I just must have not seen it before because my other betta has a mask.

It all depends. Some bettas have it and others don't. A lot of my bettas have deep red gill plates. It just adds to the beauty of betta keeping. :)

My male betta has the same shiny gills, I think it all depends on their coloration.
