Do betta's get slower as they age?

Hey all, I have a blue betta that I've had for two and a half years now, he's probably 3 years old or there abouts. Over the last couple of months he's gotten less lively. The tanks stats are the same, hes at the same temp and everything... he's not sick. He just seems to be slower. Is this normal when a betta gets to older age? It makes sense I suppose just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. He's the first betta I've had.
I have one other and my 2nd one died after one year :'(

I had one that lived to be about 4 years old and he slowed down as he got older. He just seemed to be calmer as he got older. Their color will fade a bit, too.

Yes, as they get older they will slow down and become less active, also they only live on a estimate of three years, but that all depends on how well the betta was taken care of, if he was just in a bowl and got the basic food everyday he not going to live as long, but if he has the proper size tank heater, given a variety of food, he will probly live longer then three years

well he lives in an 8 gal tank with a heater that keeps the temp at 78 - 80 degrees. He's got plenty hiding spots and he also is fed a variety of foods from betta flakes and pellets to baby shrimp to bloodworms. He's my baby I take the best care of him :)
He's 3 now but hopefully he'll stay another year ;')
