How to hide filter?

So, I have a 10 gallon and the filter is kid of unsightly. What I wanted to do was buy a bunch of java moss and wrap it around the filter (not the intake part) to try and hide it. Has anyone tried doing this before?
Here's a pic of my current set up. The filter is the large black thing on the right.

I just put my taller plants / decorations on the side of the filter & heater.

I haven't tried it yet but I know Java Fern will grow on anything. Get the smaller variations like Windlov and Needleleaf and those should work fine. Java Moss might attatch to it but I'm not certain, worth a try though. You could always get plastic mesh to make like a sleeve for the filter and then put the moss behind it so it grows forward and out to cover it up like you see those Moss walls do.

I've always just gone for the same thing as Shellieca with sticking taller planets/decorations in front of the filter, but wrapping some java moss around it is a pretty good idea since it's such a fast grower. If it works then it'd probably look amazing.
