Elite Heater Help

can someone with a elite heater give me some tips? I bought my elite 25w heater for my 1.5 gal today.

my water without the heater is 74F, so with the heater its like 82F... is that too hot? I tried to get it to go to 78F, I turned the dial down but its still like 82F.

Today is really hot so could it be that my house is actually like 82F? or is the heater broken? should i go return it and get a different one?

25 W is a lot of power for 1,5 gal; it is usually employed in 5 gal tanks. It is probably generating way too much heat even when set at the lowest mark. If you can return it to the store and ask for a mini heater.

On another perspective, you have already got the heater so, if you are willing to, I would recommend you to get a 5 gal tank instead, since it is much more feasible to keep it stable on both temperature and nitrogen, and your betta will have more space to swim.
