Question Myth or reality

So i have never tried breeding a black female because people keep telling me black females are infertile.

well i just found a black body female with dark red fins and i would love to breed her, but before i spend money on a fish i want to know, Myth or reality? is it possible to get a successful spawn from a dark bodied female!

If you can identify what type of black she is, you can tell if she is infertile. Black lace, super black, and marble based black (I may be forgetting one) are fertile, melano black females are infertile.

We won't be able to tell you really. We can only tell you hat it looks to be. Message the breeder and ask what strain she is. Also if she has red fins she may not be black at all. Just bi-color or butterfly which is marble.

Oh yea she should be fertile. It looks like a copper.

This is a good, though a bit outdated page on blacks- http://www.bettysplendens.com/articl...?articleid=961

IMO this is not a Melano strain fish and will be fertile. She actually does not seem to be a black fish just more like a dark bicolor. Also be careful because she looks rose tailed.

Yeah, the girl isn't a black at all. She is a copper with red fins.
