Exclamation Baby Betta Face Down Belly up in Gravel

My baby betta just floated down sideways into the gravel and laid there like that until I gave him a little nudge, he swam up a little then floated back down head first, belly up and just sort of moved about like he was stuck, I nudged him a little and he's been swimming for about 4-5 minutes very slowly and taking littler rests. I'm a first time betta owner and I am terrified, please help.

He's probably 7 weeks old, he's in a one gallon tank with a heater [water temp is usually at 80-82], a betta hammock and a little castle. -- his gills are bright red and they look very inflamed, he's still swimming a little. I just noticed his water smelled weird, like a swimming pool even though I conditioned it today when I did his water change. I added a little more conditioner just now just in case.

Of course, thank you. I am really trying to be calm. I just don't want my baby to die.

A baby betta requires more than 1 feed per day imo. I feed my babys 4-6 times per day. 7 weeks is very young to be away from the spawn. A good pellet for juvi betta is nls grow. What conditioner do you use and how much?

The little guy looks very thin to me.

Hey, I'm the posters boyfriend replying for him cause he just didn't want to log me out to log in, so hi :) We're very worried about this guy, so thank you all for the help. It means a lot.
But anyway, in reply to the food, we feed him about one pellet crunched up everyday. This is our first fish, let alone a baby one you understand. We have done a whole lot of research the learning never ends :) Do you think that these are symptoms of malnutrition?
