Maraycn -Two is a broad-spectrum antibiotic for internal or external gram-negative bacterial infections. It treats fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, dropsy, bleeding or red streaks, secondary and internal infections. I'm not sure what's wrong with your betta or what happens if you use this med for something other than what the medicine treats. Hopefully someone here does...

Yikes. That doesn't look good. I'm going to have to go do some research on that. Hopefully someone else will chime in with answers & solutions.

Hi everyone,

You won't believe this. We put the poor thing back in the bio-orb with a heater and themometer. His bloating went down after a couple of days. He looks soooo much better. I don't know if he is out of the woods yet but I will take a picture and let you see him. We are so relieved. Especially my husband. He's the one who bought the meds.

Thanks to all of you for your concern.

I'm glad to hear he's doing better. I honestly have never seen anything like that before. It looks really bad. Have you seen him poop? If so, what color is it?

I'll be checking for the new picture. Honestly, before I read your most recent post I was going to say that he is probably not going to make it. I hope he proves me wrong though! I'm glad you got a heater, hopefully it will raise his resistance and give him a better chance.

I'm going to try and look that up because now I'm really curious. And of course I want to help you save him!

Here's a few things that I found on the internet.

1) Some potential causes include:
-internal parasites
-internal bacterial infection (bacteria emit gas which builds up in the fish)
-tumor: does not seem as likely in your case seeings how the swelling has gone down and doesn't look solid
-constipation: also not likely by looking at the picture

I'd say check out the possibilities of internal parasites and bacteria. If the poops are white and stringy suspect parasites. If not, I'd try treating for bacteria. I read one comment that was much like yours and that person had used Maracyn 1 and 2 with no improvement. It was suggested that they use Kanacyn. Tetracycline was also mentioned somewhere because it treats gram-negative bacteria.

Anyway, this is just what I found by doing a little research. I'm not going to put any guarantees on the information being valid. Like I said, I have no experience with this, I just wanted to try and help.
