Yeah, I'd get one with the actual numbers too. I guess you just have to keep fooling with them to get the temp where you want it.

Marineland mini heater --I have this heater in my 2.5gal tank and it is just not doing the job. I find in the morning after a cold night that the water temp is only 70-72'F. This heater never has kept the water at 78'F as advertised.
Can anyone suggest another small tank heater I could try?

thanks all
Arlie

I just ordered a 25 watt Visitherm stealth heater for my 4 gallon. It was very highly reccommended by several forum members. Its an adjustible heater.

Yup the visi therm heater is a good one. Its made by marineland as well but not a mini. You want an adjustable one.

OK, another question. I know that you had trouble with getting yours to heat up. If I set it to 78, how long will it take for it to get there? I need to put a thermometer in there too.

Well the smaller the tank and volume of water the quicker it will heat up. So a 4 shouldnt take long at all. I dont have a time estimate for you though sorry lol. I havent figured that part out yet. Im sure there is some kind of calculation somewhere. Less than a day to heat for sure though. It took almost a day for my 10 to heat up. Its finally at 78 and Fishy is super happy now haha.

OK and when I change the water (I'm not cycling so I'm doing full changes once a month) what do I do about keeping him in warm water? I usually let my water sit overnight but I guess I can just get warm water out of the tap and put conditiooner in it.
