Assassin Snail care

If I get an assassin snail, once he eats up my pond snail infestation, what can I feed him? Does he ONLY eat snails?

They eat any dead protein, they will also dead plants. so if you have a live planted tank they should be ok

Depends, if the place you got it fed it something else they would not touch dead plants. I have one and I tried giving him algae wafers not one bite I called my LFS and they told me they were used to eating snails. So now I am hand feeding him fish food until I start seeing those pond snails this is what he will eat for now

If you're near a local pet store try asking them if they wouldn't mind giving you pond snails as most stores see them as infestation anyways. You could always breed pond snails so your assassin snail has something to eat xD

I'll try to ask lol hopefully they won't see me as a begger. I'm going to be getting another small 1 or 2 gallon tank then I can breed them in there

Mine eats snails, dead BBS, and anything protein based such as the betta food - (golden pearls, repashy, betta flake food, betta pellets, etc).

I agree, just breed snails in another tank and feed them to the assassins.. I'll pull some out of my planted tank (for growing out plants) and place them with the assassins which are in my betta juvenile grow out tanks.

Well, my whole reason for getting one would be to get rid of the pond snails I currently have, which are ruining my filter I think, so it seems weird to turn around and need more pond snails to feed him. But I'd have to feed him something...

if the snails were wild caught, you could drop them off wherever they were caught? but i dont think the are native to this area and might cause a big issue with the eco system

In most states it is illegal to put pest snails in ponds, etc., even if that's where you got them in the first place.
