Marimo Issues

I bought a marimo last year and it's been living with my fish in their 10g for quite some time. Recently I noticed that it was getting a little sunburnt, so I took it out, gently trimmed off the burn, and moved it to a cool, dark place.

However, it immediately began to grow little white spots - not pearling. I change the water as often as possible, but they still cloud it up.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You can put it into a bucket of tank water, soak it with water and squeeze it out, over and over to try to clean whatever that is out of it. It won't hurt it and probably does need to be cleaned. About every 2 weeks, you would squeeze it out in the water change tank water.
