why don't you cycle the 10 gallon? you only need to 25% changes weekly.

See if the place you'll be living at college will let you have the 10G. A 10G tank isn't really *that* big. If it isn't cycled, you could put your fish in small containers to transport, drain the tank, and set it back up in your new digs at school.

Okay, it's been a while since I started this thread, but I've made the decision to rehome Odin, my marble Delta. I downgraded to a 5 gallon and am happy with the siza and am confident I can keep up with small water changes. I'm sad to be rehoming Odin, but know I am doing the right thing. He'll get his own tank, heater, and filter and will be much happier. So thanks to all who replied!
