I'm not sure about the affects of yellow toward red, but is sounds logical since yellow is from a Non Red gene. IME red is quite dominant (if the yellow wasn't there) . . . 2 generations of no red what so ever (green dragon) suddenly produced green red in F3. So do not breed the ones that carry even the slightest red. Perhaps Darth's method of cleaning reds by using yellow would work.

I agree to breeding back to female F0 (original mother) - as far the line as possible. Then breed siblings with no red nor yellow to get clean solid color. I would not breed back to male F1 because theoretically he carries 50% of male F0 genes - which carries red.

Thank you indjo, that will help me keep things going I think. Take males with least red coloring and breed back to the original female as much as I can.

Are any of these other yellows I have worth breeding to add to the line when I need to add one to prevent to much inbreeding?

Ok, now I'm confused about your goal. . . . Do you want to breed for yellows or solid irid? If you are going for irid, it would be best to get more irid and less yellow. . . . as I said earlier, I don't know if yellows will eliminate red (best ask Darth). IME yellow crosses produced quite a few red canbodians.

But if you are breeding for yellow, the male and the second female are best - they have cleaner colors. Fin wise, they need lots of improving.
