Exclamation I need help & quick.

I've had my betta fish Blu for a couple months. He's been pretty active. I rarely see him at the bottom of the tank. However yesterday I noticed that his face was turning from a navy blue (hence the name) to a gold color. I looked online & decided to clean out his tank. I cleaned it out & put him in it & he seemed fine, he played with the bubbles and laid on his leaf hammock . Today when I checked on him he seemed okay. But when I came home I noticed that he had changed back to his normal color but he still won't swim around. Unless I move the tank or tap it he won't move too much. I'm worried that he's dying. Idk what I can do to help him. He looks so miserable. Please help !

Did it look like his face scales were actually changing color, or was it more like a "gold dust" sort of thing? If it was "gold dust" it sounds like velvet, but I don't know if it would just disappear like that all of a sudden.

It looked like a gold/brownish color. I checked on him this morning & he is still his blue color. He actually looks like the fish in your pic. He is still worrying me though because he still isn't swimming around. He'll swim to the top & swim straight back down.

You could do another water change. Perhaps something happened last time. Did you add or change anything in his tank?

How often does he poop? What does it look like? If he is constipated, fast him for a day.

Foods with a lot of grains (corn, wheat, soybean) can be constipating. Look at the ingredients in his food. If there is a lot of grain, consider switching him to a protein based pellet like New Life Spectrum Betta pellets or Omega One Betta Buffet pellets.

The only thing I changed was his air stone. I've actually never seen him poop but then again I'm never home because I'm at work most of the day. I didn't feed him yesterday & I checked on him this morning & he swam around a little but not too much.

For a 2 gallon tank, you should be doing at least 2 water changes a week. With the filter, you won't need to do a 100% change ever, so you could do 2 50% water changes a week and that will definitely help him.

I change his water often. I usually do a 100% change because his food gets all in the rocks. I really just don't know how to help him. I've changed the water , stopped feeing him for a day, & he still lays at the bottom. Sometimes on his side.
