bubble nest ruining female

I have a male betta and a female betta I'm trying to breed. 10 gallon tank. Heater, sponge filter, conditioned, etc. Why is it the female keeps going to the nest and wrecking it then taking off running when the male gets upset? I'm fairly confident there are no eggs under the nest as the male constantly wonders from the nest. I've never seen this behavior before from a female that seems very primed and ready to breed (flaring, s-swimming, and vertical stripes). Any ideas?

Thanks.

Shes not happy with the quality of it yet lol. Poor guy will have to try harder with his nest blowing skills if he wants to impress her
