Yeah, they'll fight or kill each other.

That sucks. But, I guess that's how they are. Lol. At least I asked before making that kind of mistake. Don't want anyone dying.

Yeah, it would be nice to put a bunch of bettas together without someone getting killed.

Like a regular aquarium! How are they with other fish? Like community fish? Do they get picked on, do they do the picking, or do they all live happily ever after? I know they live with that one frog okay (I forget which one).

They can do ok in a community tank as long as they aren't housed with nippy fish or fish that hav long, flashy fins. Some fish they can't live with are gouramis, angelfish or male guppies. But all bettas are different. Some can live fine with tankmates and some are too aggressive.

So basically just like any other animal. Depends on the temperament of each individual instead of the species as a whole. Hmm. Learn something new everyday.

Yes, bettas are really smart and each have individual personalities. Bettas and corydoras catfish seem to be a good match. The cories will not bother the betta, but if you have an especially aggressive betta they might pick on the cories.

Also, a tank of female bettas can work, but there are instances where it may not (overly aggressive females for example). So, before you decide to do a setup like that I would recommend that you research the topic and decide whether you are willing to put the effort in to offset the risks (there is no guarantee though either way).

Thats why you need to watch them carefully, to make sure no one is being bullied.I agree with Kim about doing plenty of research before setting up a sorority.
