Greetings from Calgary

Hi! I bought a red male Betta about 2 months ago, mostly as a little friend for my 4 year old son, but it was difficult to not grow fond of the creature myself.

His name is Pingu, and he lives in a 10 gallon tank, with loads of interesting aquarium ornaments.

He's very sociable and quite nosey. You can't pass by his tank without him coming up to the glass. I have a feeling that if he were a person, he'd be a crotchety old man, yelling, "Get off my lawn!" His personality is very endearing.

I'm a novice with aquariums and with fish, but I researched a bit and thought the Betta was a good choice for us. He looks to be thriving, and seems to be content. He was in a little plastic cup at the pet store, and when I introduced him to his new home, you could just see that he was thrilled. He doesn't flare that much, but he's always in full bloom while he patrols his territory. His bubble nests take up half the tank.

All in all, they're very neat. Nice to meet you all. Cheers!

Nice to have you here Senaks. Im from Calgary too and have a verified untreated betta addiction. You should post o picture of your fish. 10g is a terrific tank for a betta fish I bet he loved getting into that from his cup.

Greetings Senaks its a pleasure to have you join us. Pingu is such a cute name and he sounds so adorable. I have a human neighbor who is like that and I would like him much better if he were a fish like Pingu because I would have to laugh at him as I walk by his house instead of frowning Best wishes to you and yours and I hope you enjoy your time here with us

Thanks for the welcomes. :) I've started an album, though there's just one pic so far. I've been really enjoying tending the aquarium, small as it is. I like to change it up during water changes and I can really see the appeal.

Good idea! About every three days I usually put a new ornament or decoration in, like a new little house to swim into or a new rock or plant. My fish, Levvy, really loves it. It's so cute to see him swimming around and exploring. :)
