Question Bloodworms

I've heard a lot about Bloodworms, and how Betta Fish LOVE to eat them. I'm plannin' on heading to PetSmart to get some to feed him by hand and get him to like me more, but are their any warnings/tips about this tasty snack? What should I do or not do? What should I get or not get? Thanks so much for your help.

For frozen bloodworms (way more protein and easier to feed, IMO), a tiny chunk will do - and maybe four or five bloodworms, but it depends on your fishie's appetite. Just remember that they are not an everyday food. At most, you'll want to feed three times a week.

Freeze dried are less nutritious than frozen, so I don't feed them to my bettas. If you do use freeze dried it's recommended that you soak them for awhile to let them swell. Unsoaked they can bloat your betta's belly and cause constipation.

You might want to use tweezers as touching them can cause an allergic reaction. Other than that, bloodworms are awesome, lol. My bettas go absolutely nuts for them, and I hope yours do too.

As fleetfish said, bloodworms are only a treat that I give my betta once or twice a week.
I had one betta in the past that would stop eating his normal food because he only wanted to eat the bloodworms. Moderation is key I think, they love them!
