What exactly are we supposed to be looking at right now? His color, tail type, fins, gills?

I honestly can't see anything wrong with him. What exactly makes you think he has ammonia burns?

That looks like it might just be a random ray that decided it didn't want to grow like the rest of them so like the rebel it was, it went out and stuck a different way and has a different coloration. He's fine otherwise though, no poisonings and his colors look fantastic!

We jumped the gun and moved him to a QT tank with stress coat. He has been so lethargic anyway lately, and his 2.5 gallon has been producing a weird film on the top since we got him, so we will use this time to figure out what in the tank is producing the film. My guess is that something is leeching off the cheap, year-old heater. Maybe while we isolate the tank problem, Penelope will become more active in clean and very warm water.

The problem with this particular fin was that it literally just showed up today.
