horrible fish mom here, missing dorsal fin

so we did a 80% water change for my little VT fawkes today because he needed it hand he's been kinda neglected lately because work has been really busy and i've been focusing on starting up a couple new tanks. ANYWAYS.... i cup fawkes start vacuuming the gravel, decide to change the decorations to spice his life up. while im filling up my bucket to refill the water i go to take pics of him and i notice probably 80% of his dorsal fin is gone... just gone! no evidence of tail biting on the other fins, i looked in the net to see if i hurt him when netting him and cupping him and i didn't see the fin in the net. No idea how it happened but i feel like a horrible mom. Coming to you guys for some tips on getting him healthy again. i noticed the fin missing maybe 3 hours ago and now that i'm keeping an eye on him he seems lethargic and a little pale. he ate like a wild man today though. filling out the form for you guys and i'll see if i can get pics up. thanks for your help! i already added a tsp of aq salt when i was changing the water

Warm clean water, if you have some, a little extra StressCoat+ conditioner - has aloe, helps with their skin/scales/slime coat.

You can also do a up to 10 day treatment of AQ salt to help if there is a wound. 1 tsp pre-dissolved per gallon.

Just like with people, keeping it clean and letting it have a good environment to heal in should take care of it, and his fin should regrow.
