Introducing the Community

Hello! :)

I have decided to attempt a community tank with platys, Cory cats, and my double tail male betta, Delfino.

I am setting up very slowly. I am purchasing items as I find what I am looking for so it will be a while before fish are ready to move in. I'm including a picture of what I have so far. As you can see, it's far from ready.

I know that in order to acclimate the fish to their new home, I need to float the bags/cups in the new water for a bit. However, I was wondering- who to release first? My friend told me to release the betta first, but I thought that would make him more likely to see it as "his" territory.

Release the Betta last. I also release my fish when the tank is dark.

Okay, thank you :) That's what I thought. It's a little sad because I could go ahead and move Delfino in otherwise.

You're welcome.

You can go ahead and move Delfino to his new digs. When you get the others, take him out, move the decorations/plants around a bit, acclimate and release your new fish and then bring Delfino back.

Okay, I may try that :D I'm planning to amp up the decor a bit more, but there is a hood, light and filter now.
