Smile Welcome, Buzz 2!

Well, we were at Petsmart, exchanging regular old "community" fish that wouldn't get along with each other and...

there was this beautiful half moon... and...

now he lives at our house!

We are back in the betta business! Of course since we have a little one, his very original name is Buzz Betta 2. LOL.

I got a piece of driftwood to help with PH, and am looking to pick up some live plants on Friday when Petsmart gets a shipment to help with the ammonia in source water problems that some of you have helped me with. We're going to be doing an extra water change a week for a while and trying out running some Ammo Chips from API as well until we find the permanent solution.

So the Rockin' Rasboras have their new band member, and Buzz 2 absolutely loves the tank. The pics are not the best, as he was hurriedly exploring when first released. He seems to be quite the adventurer, and I can already see a big difference in personality from Buzz 1.

And, here's a brag on Petsmart...my local one struggles with the conditions for bettas just like every other one. I have seen dead bettas there in cups, and the same bettas there for a long time. This guy had been there since at least last Friday. However, when I tested the water in his cup, ammonia and all other levels were ZERO. I was quite surprised and pleased, and I plan on letting the manager know. (There are not many choices for bettas in my area.)

Thanks to everyone who encouraged us not to give up on bettas after Buzz the First died. We may need more help, so fair warning!

Welcome, Buzz 2!

He's a real beauty. Glad you didn't give up. And I rather like his name. ^_^

My grandmother has one that's almost 15 years old in human years.

Well, I'm a relative newbie, so I'm hoping he looks okay. He was just so beautiful I couldn't help it. I don't think there's any fin issues that I can see. His cup wasn't the cleanest but as I've said it wasn't that dirty either. His head seems to be gray, which is a bit different I guess, but it doesn't appear unhealthy. He is so active and quite the little explorer! Loves all the nooks and crannies of the tank...
