Help with cycling, when to change water?

I moved my betta into a filtered 6gal tank a week ago. I feel like it has been long enough to need a water change according to suggested schedules on the forum.

However, I got a test kit yesterday, and I think the results say I don't need to change it.

Ammonia: 0.25ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0ppm

Should I do a partial water change or a wait a few more days for the ammonia to rise to 0.50ppm?

Some people say that ANY amount is a no-no with a fish & others will tell you wait until the ammonia or nitrites are >.25, its really up to you IMO. I tend to do both depending on the situation but I typically would either do a water change at .25 or add a dose of Prime & recheck in 24 hrs. IME once ammonia is showing it doesn't take long for it hover around .5 almost daily.
