I just got a whisper heater (2-15g)

Does anyone else have a heater like this one? How do they work? Like, how often does the red light come on?

Sorry, can't help you out. Mine is a Marineland Visitherm. I'm sure someone will come along and tell you something about your new heater.

I have one of those in my 10g, and it works great! The red heater comes on in the winter about every ten minutes (my house is 69ish in the winter) and maybe every hour in the summer (my house gets up to 79, so sometimes it doesn't even come on in the summer on hot days indoors)

So does it turn on and off depending on the temperature?

ok, because I just got one today and it doesn't seem to go one much. I'm glad to know it is supposed to come on every 10-15 minutes. Thanks

The red light is to show you that the power is on and the heater is heating the tank. It will vary depending on ambient room temperature and how large the heater is for the tank. I can't say anything about the brand though because I've never gotten one.

I have one of those. It's perfect because it doesn't work all the time (unless it needs to) so you don't have to keep plugging it in and unplugging it. I think...I'm not totally sure...it keeps it at 76 degrees. I'd have to look that one up, but I'm pretty sure that's the temp it keeps it at. The good thing is that if your house gets hot it will turn off and you won't have to worry about boiling your fish.

I got one just like it, and it works the same way. A good thing to do is start your water around the temp you want at- 76 to 78 then the heater will only come on when it starts to dip below that temp. I thought it was not working too but it is working great now-I think it takes some time to adjust

I don't see where the red indicator light is supposed to be on mine.

Do you have the visi-therm stealth? I mean the fully submersable one. If you do it doesn't have an indicator light. I don't know why, but those heaters are so accurate it doesn't really bother me *shrugs*.
