Transfer and heat

Skye is currently in a non heated 2 G bowl, i want to move him over to the 10 G tank my friend gave me, i was wonder how i should go about this. they also gave me a heater.

Idea 1:should i fill the new tank with water, and add the conditioner, run the filter for a day or two then transfer him, and with him put some of the water from his old bowl in too then slowly turn the heater on so i dont put him into shock with a dramatic temperature change?

Idea 2: fill the tank 90% full and then when i do my next water change / gravel vaccum, put have the water (1G) from the bowl into the other 9G of new water in the new tank, run the filter for one or 2 days and then transfer him?then slowly turn the heater on so i dont put him into shock with a dramatic temperature change?

Someone might bring up cycling. I am not going to say anything about that because I am not an expert in it.


But usually when you move a fish you float him in a bag (or cup like the betta came in) and then add some of the tank water to the bag slowly, so the temperature becomes equal. At least that's what I do.

i figured i wouldnt have to float a bag if i put both the bowl and aquaruim in the same room and let them both become the same room tempurature,
