You can make them pleasing to the eye depending on how you can use gravel, ornaments and plants, real or fake. There's many different things you can do with any tank!

I personally love black substrates, mostly gravel and sand because it usually brings out the colors of my Betta's while looking very nice and almost modern. But then I make them look more jungle-y with all my plants and driftwood haha

I actually have black sand and love it. It does bring out their colors more. As for tanks, I prefer the look of vases and bowls. But seeing as I would like 3 gallons, I have to do some shopping around.

If they have any TJ maxx stores there, they normally have allot of really nice ones that meet the criteria.

Thanks! I'll check it out! I'm pretty sure there's a HomeGoods.

Look for vases wider than tall. Narrow, tall vases don't really give them much swimming room or much breathing surface; especially after plants, heaters, etc., are added. Beautiful but not practical, IMO.

I was in Goodwill a couple of weeks ago and they had a ton of nice glass bowls, etc., for cheap.

Thanks! They all seem to really enjoy them. I haven't finished the 20g, but I have a week or 2 until the QT for the girls is over. :)
