My name is Catherine, and I got started in aquariums this year, so a newbie I am.
I have always loved bettas, having had one in a bowl as a child. Poor guy, he would have benefited from the knowledge I possess now, they are certainly hardy fish.
I have 3 tanks in my house:
a 2.5 gal Mini-Bow for Terk my betta, wanting to head up to 5 gallons ASAP. Caring for a little tank SUCKS!
a 55 gallon community tank with an old silver dollar I inherited, 2 juvenile male SD's, 3 Dalmation lyretail mollies, 2 black balloon belly molles, 3 platys, an African dwarf frog, and 4 snails. This tail is well planted.
a 125 gallon with 2 juvenile Oscars and a pleco. I enjoy feeding my Oscars a variety of food- live, frozen, veggies and pelleted.
I have enjoyed much learning about water chemistry and how to care for my critters. I am religious about water changes.
In my every day life I am a vet tech, specializing in small animal internal medicine, and hobbies include my German Shepherds, watching movies, practicing shooting my handgun, and reading.
