How use small rock to weight plants rather than plant weights?

I have some plant weights but they break in half when I bend them. The other type that came with my plant order doesn't seem to be very useful. I need to weigh the plants down until they take root. I have fishing line but I don't know how to wrap without crushing the plant stems. Pics are appreciated but a description is fine. Thanks!

if your plants are floating up after you plant them into the substrate, it means you dont have enough substrate. you need to add more to anchor the plants to allow for plant growth. even if the plants take roots, it will still easily float up if there is not enough substrate to hold it down.

I bought cheap dollar store plastic plants with weights and clipped all the plastic leaves off them. Very gently, I wrapped some thread about my anubias and java ferns' rhizomes and then around the weight. Works like a charm!
