Male or Female?

I recently purchased 2 females (well, saved them from the pet store) and after the dominant female started picking on female 2, i seperated the female 2 into the breeding net until i get a sorority up and running.

you can find the thread here: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=229642

Anyway, since then, female 1 (were calling her Red for now) who is the dominant one has started creating bubble nests that put my male Milton to shame!
I snapped some photos of her and i want your opinion if she is really a she or if i have taken a male by mistake.

And this is the little blue female, shes so much more laid back and shy

Sorry if there so large!!!

Without any doubt, Red is a Traditional Plakat male (wow!, he is very beautiful and has great form!)

The female is really pretty too!

The egg-spot should be behind the ventrals and in front of the anal fin, it looks like a small white tube, I hope this helps you understand a little more:

Your Red doesn't seem to have one.
He also has that particular headshape of a male and his belly looks round, female bellies are a bit more oval.
Plus, you told 'he' made a bubble nest, after how many days after you got him did he made it? It's pretty rare for females to make them.

Edit: Females also have smaller ventrals than males.

Oh yeah! Now i understand!

He/she started making one just a few days after i got her. The blue one also seems to have breeding stripes (going down her body instead of across) oh my. Seems ill have to rehome Red then, i dont have space for another male

I agree with the others, she happens to look like a he c: plus his caudal has a 180 spread like a halfmoon but it isn't sharp, perhaps a HMPK?

Haha I wish I could keep him! But one future sorority, my soon to be gourami tank plus a frustrating Milton who's fins won't heal is enough for me. :p maybe in the future though since I'm getting rid of my. 3ft tank ill have more space!

He was given to my mum who has space with her community of tetraa and mollies :D
