Should I breed this betta?

Hello! I bought this betta because I was in love with his color. I didn't intend to breed him, but the seller asked if I'd like a sibling female with him, and it got me wondering if he would be appropriate to breed.

I would like to have a HM PK breeding pair, but I'm afraid his body is too arched for this fish to be a good male to choose.

I'd love your input, and could someone send me an example of a great/breedable HM PK?

Thanks,
Miranda

Body is slightly arched, but very common for HMPKs and it's not that bad. Needs a tiny bit of work, ventrals should be longer, dorsal a tad bit wider, remove the short rays and a bit more of a point in the anal.. but it's a great start and he is lovely... I would breed him with the right girl :)

Oh yay! What should I look for in a female? When I respond to the seller I want to give him a physical description of what I want, and ask that the female be colored in a similar way the male is, or at least a marble. I'd love all the babies to look like daddy!

I don't like his body or his anal(short rays in front not matched with short rays on dorsal AND no long tapering tip) or his super short ventrals. I like the dorsal and tail except for the uneven branching in the one spot.

I personally would say no. That blue marble is pretty common if you wanted to breed you could find it easily.

You want to breed this to a solid, either yellow or steel.

I looked into yellow and steel.
I found this yellow, her body seems to be the straightest out of the HM PKs, and she has longer ventrals:

The only steel one I saw that had good shape/ventrals was this one:

And she has the big ears, so I don't know if it would be ok to breed him to one with big ears or not. I love big ears, but I want people to like the fry.

Any more input on this? I'm waiting to respond to the seller's offer of a female until I know whether I want a sibling or not. Should I get a sibling or should I get one that I pick out myself?

This is the sibling the seller offered me to go with him. Still think the yellow is the best match?

The yellow is beautiful and would be a fun color to throw in and have around.. but if you are wanting as close to the father as possible then I would go with the sibling, as you have a better chance at having multiples like him. The yellow may toss in red, or something you are unaware of.
