Poll Which fish should I get?

I want a new betta to replace my Carson and decided to wait until spring came to get one! Now that spring is here which fish should I get?
There's a red veil tail (Carson was a veil tail) who seemed to connect to me but he'e as big as Carson was and I think he's 4 years old like he was, too! What if he dies soon?! Still a rescue fish would be great especially if he likes me!!
Or should I get a fry that is ready to be adopted? A baby would live with me a long time but he may change color on me a look like Carson which would make me sad! Carson was a deep blue with red and I
think he was irridescent?! That red fish was fire engine red!!! Solid color all the way!
Please help with opinion! I have to use the same tank and stuff because I can't afford to get a new one. Tank is dark blue.
