At what point do you start needing an aquarium stand?

At what size do aquariums start getting too heavy to safely place on a dresser or other furniture, and at what point would it be safer to just put it on a stand built for the appropriate size?

I think 80G+. My 20G seems to do just fine with this large chest/drawer thing. But then again, a 20G is pretty small compared to others. :/

Really? I guess the quality of furniture plays a part too....I would feel fine putting a 5 gallon on pretty much any piece of furniture that it would fit on, but a 20g would need sturdy furniture. I would say at least 29g needs a stand. I wouldn't feel comfortable putting it on something else....
