live mosquito larvae

Should I start my own little live mosquito larvae farm? I only have two bettas, but I would like to know more information about starting my own little farm.
Pros?
Cons?

And how do I go about it?

It's not exactly a farm per se, it's just a bucket full of tank water outside. lol

Since you have a small amount of bettas to feed to, leaving the bucket outside full of tank water will give you plenty to give to them. (: Add in twigs or leaves if you want, and just wait for 1-3 days until the larvae show up.

How can I keep it under control so I don't actually help the Mosquitos reproduce? I only want enough larvae to feed my fish.
How often do I feed them the live bloodworms, and how many?

There isn't really a way you can reduce it, they'll make as many as they want. Once you're done feeding the bettas the larvae, just pour out the bucket outside.

You should only feed them 1-3 times per week, as they're normally treats since they're domestic. But if you want to, you can feed them the larvae daily, but as you said; careful with the amount of larvae the mosquito produce.

I have mine growing in a empty 35lb kitty litter tub. But I don't see why they wouldn't in a small cup too...all they need is dirty/algae water from what I understand.

Is there a way to keep the larvae from becoming a mosquito?
I don't want to empty the cup each time, because I'd like to feed them this everyday, so I don't want to have to wait a few days everytime to feed them this again/

I would say make your own frozen treats! Put the water with the larvae in specially-cleaned ice cube trays and freeze them. :) It would kill the larvae, but you'd have a fresh supply of home-grown treats. And once you run low on the frozen ones, set up another hatchery.

Or do a massive one once a year, freeze them all, and have a year's supply. :D
