Filter trouble

I have a 10 gallon take and I think the filter is creating a current.
Is they any safe way to fix this problem?

Thank you for any advice

What type of filter is it?

If it's a HOB, the sponge over the intake or outflow is best IMO. There is also the water bottle method here.

Thanks the water bottle method looks like it would be perfect :D

If it isn't though is a certian sponge needed to be safe?

If used, then you shouldn't use it. If not, then it's perfectly safe.

Yeah I get how a dirty one would be bad. I mean any common kitchen sponge at a store is fine if it is clean of course?

I had better luck with the sponge rather than the water bottle, too. I tried the water bottle and it barely helped, so I bought a piece of fluval foam/mesh filter media, a big long rectangle, and just laid it up against the outflow and put a rubber band around it. Worked like a charm...water still flows through,, but the holes in the sponge break up and slow down the flow. :)

I tried that, and the sponge did very well for like a week, and then it needed replacing. That's why I use the water bottle method.

It would be better to use one of the sponges made for the aquaclear filter. That way you nows its aquarium safe and they will last much longer then a itchen sponge. I have had several of mine in filters for OVER a year
