Shrimp, snails, betta oh my?

My daughter got a betta for her birthday yesterday. It's currently residing in a filtered 2.5gal with some snails, but as soon as she finishes cleaning her room I'm going to set her up a 10 gallon planted tank for Indigo (her betta). Do betta do well with shrimps, or will they try to eat them? I was originally thinking maybe put a couple other fish in there with Indigo, but after reading through this forum I start to doubt the wisdom of that, so now i'm thinking maybe just snails and cherry shrimp?

Think it depends on the betta.
I do have some cherry shrimp and snails in with my betta, for me it is working, but some bettas do not play nice with others, so you will be taking a risk.

The shrimp will like the plants to hide in. I also have a small cave covered in moss, the openings are a good size for the shrimp to enter, too small for the betta to get in.

My betta killed one shrimp, but apparently it wasn't very amusing because he has left the other two alone for a couple weeks.

Maybe he didn't like the taste of shrimp. lol
