You don't wrap the heat tape, it's a flat plastic. Not the best picture, but you can get the idea of the heat tape in action on some of my juvies - there is a "tape" you can use, but it's rarely in use anymore. Heat tape that is a bit more recommended and widely used now isn't a tape at all, it's called Flexwatt - used basically for reptile/snake bins on shelves. It's the black striped hard plastic under the beanie containers pictured below. I have multiple places/layers/shelves for these things.. easy to connect them all together as needed, etc.
