Turning purple!

Hey Everyone!
A few weeks ago I posted that I bought home a sick betta from one of the pet stores here...
He has bloomed the last couple of weeks.. I thought he was going to die for sure but within days he really picked up.. well he has started changing color...from this washed out creamy white to a vivid dark purple....I would say at least 80% of him now has changed ...

Is this normal? I have tested his water and all is fine... he seems very very happy and is eating as normal (he eats really well)



Any Ideas?

When they are sick, they are often pale and washed out looking. Now that he's in clean water and being taken care of, he's turned into a beautiful fish. :) I'm glad to hear he's doing so well.

Wow, I didn't know they changed color like that. This is good to know.

Does this mean he would have been purple before he got sick?

BettaMom , I don't know I wonder if he was... he was almost dead when I got him home... but very very pale... He did revive a little in fresh water but it took a couple of days for him to really settle in... but the color change has me baffled!

Of course we have no idea what his original color was before he got sick but he is definitely much better. A lot of times bettas will change colors a few days after you take them home and put them in clean water and feed them properly.

Thats wonderful hes doing good now. it sure makes a person feel good when they rescue a fish. and give it a new life. hes a beauty.

Yeah, it's a miracle what clean water can actually do. Very beautiful indeed....

I'm sooo attached to him... I named him Ho žKi...I'm amazed how friendly he is... so much more than my other betta's...
