Really? Because my swords are shooting up like someone lot a fore under their little plant butts. I mean I've got new growth on almost all of the units. Hmm.

Well that's good at least, you seem to have really good lighting so far and that's most of the battle when it comes to Swords so that's probably why.

Yeah, but the grass is probably going to die. I've been struggling with blue-green algae since I got the tank, and it clings to the grass almost immediately after I've cleaned it. Probably doesn't help the light situation.

Also, Update, The good news is, the fin is healing. The bad news is, it seems to be healing weirdly. It's hard to explain, but it seems like the ray has split into two, and is growing out of his fin? I'll take photos later. But it's definitely fin. I thought it might be an external parasite, but I looked really closely while he was eating and it's definitely fin. I'm curious how it will grow, but also worried a little.

Yeah, most likely the ray will poke out of his dorsal and grow on it's own, not in the actual dorsal fin. It happens sometimes, it won't hurt him but it's not great to look at is all. But it's healing so that's the important thing!

As long as it's not dangerous, that's all I care about. Pretty fish are pretty, but Remus is a friend, too. Plus it makes him unique!

Yeah, totally fine and yes it makes him very unique! I've only seen that happen on a caudal fin, not a dorsal ^_^

UPDATE: Here are the photos I took of Remus's strange fin regrowth today. You can see it is indeed new fin, and healthy new fin, just it's growing strangely. Thoughts? Thank you!

Also, I forgot, all my amazon swords have super long new roots coming off them. This is good, right? When I got them, all they had were stubby brown roots.

Yeah the roots are awesome!

And yeah, definitely growing weird but it looks healthy enough. I almost wonder if he'll end up having like a double dorsal so to say. But it doesn't look harmful or anything so that's good!

Awesome. I wasn't sure it was fin until a few days ago when it started getting color. If you'd like, I'll keep you updated on the regrowth? I'm interested to see what will happen in the long run.
