Red face petting

I saw a youtube vid and this girl was petting her betta can I do that with out my future betta dieing(getting betta saturday)?

Once in awhile it won't hurt. Like only few times a year... haha. It disturbs their slime coating.

It's not good for them.

Edit: Oh, haha. I misunderstood. As long as it's not frequent and you are very gentile it probably wouldn't hurt. Don't use soap on your hands right before though, just rinse them with warm water.

A fish isn't really something that you can pet like a cat or dog. You could put your fingers in the tank and see what he does. He may decide to bite you but it doesn't hurt.

My angels and betta swim between my fingers when they are in the tank, let them do the moving, just keep your hand still and it wont disturb their slime coat at all.
