I dont have any lids on all my tanks other then my 1gallons. But there is no way any of my Betta's can get out..

If you can't get a lid right away and are worried about the basket method, just take out some water until there is about 5 or 6 centimeters between the water surface and the top of the tank.

Your Betta probably isn't going to be able to jump 5 or 6 centimeters or more.

there already is that much between the top because i wanted it to be excatly 2 gallons

you can always do it the cheap way- poke holes in plastic wrap and stick it on top! (I know it doesn't look great, but it works)
