I think 8 is a little much. Feed him 2-3 pellets twice a day.

hey peoples;
im from south africa so it takes awhile to do all the conversions like liters to gallons lol anyway i got a beautiful pink/purple betta 4 days ago and he still hasnt eaten..but aftert reading this im not gonna stress over it,i tried to give him a freeze dried blood worm...he took a nibble and thought it was attacking him..lol haha a sight to see..but my question would be this: i bought a crown tail this afternoon (black/red) and he is happily eating? does it very between the betta's of not wanting to eat and eating? also the pink/red one seems to dirty his tank quickly

If they try to swallow it but spit it back up try soaking it in water for about 20secs then feed it too them, it makes it softer and easier to eat.

Okay, I just bought my first betta the other day. He's beautiful. I've been having about the same problem. He won't eat. He just spits it out. I tried pellets for a couple days, spits out. I just tried flakes today, spits out. He only eats bloodworm and baby shrimps, but you're only supposed to do that every so often. I was wondering also if it's because I've transfered him quite a bit. I got him in the cup, then put him in a smaller bowl that day. Then the next day I put him in a vase, and now I have him in a tank. Do you think I'm overdoing it? I'm not moving him again, but he's just not eating and it's scaring me.

Hello and welcome to FishForum. Not eating for the first few days is normal. He should settle down after he gets used to his surroundings. Keep trying the pellets. If thats all you offer him, he should get the idea that that's all he's going to get.
