Clay Tank Decoration?

I recently purchased a decoration, and as soon as I put it in the water it smelled of clay, and I just wanted to be sure it was safe to put in my aquarium or not. I've had a run of bad luck recently with decorations, which is why I'm checking.

just make sure it doesn't throw off your parameters, but clay should be safe
