Tank has...stuff.

Well this isnt really something wrong with my betta as much as what is wrong with the tank. I dont really know where to make this thread, I will post it Plants too but Im not sure if it is a plant. It is a brown algae like substance that is forming on the decorations. It doestn appear furry or fuzzy more of just a dirt or goo. The pictures make it look like everything is covered in brown but really its just the two big "column" structures and the center divider, there is also a bit coming off the lip of the filter. The water looks fine, its not floating around in there or anything. I tried to scrape off a majority of it last time it appeared about 2 weeks ago, but it came back. I am keeping up on water changes and everything so I dont know what to do. Would any kind of snails help kill it.

It looks like it could be some sort of algae. I'm not sure how to get rid of it though. Maybe some algae eaters?

hmm.. i've had the green stuff before and i just wash it out. i don' tknow about brown. maybe an internet search would be a good idea to make sure it's not some weird toxic variety. i'd wash it out though to keep it under control, at the least.

Yah thats what I thought, I thinkI will just put a snail in each side to try to get them to eat it, apparently its brown diatoms according to the plants section, apparently its not dangerous and is omehow because of cyclling, or rather botching it.

If its a 10 gallon, you could easily fit 6 cories and one betta. Thats what Fishyinpa was going to do. I don't know if she ever did it or not because I haven't seen her around the forums lately.
