Must surrender my Betta :(

I've had my Beta for over 4 years. I am moving from Boston and San Jose, CA. I called American Airlines and the told me that I will not be able to take my fish with me because of the stupid 3 oz of liquid rule. I don't see how any fish would be able to survive in toxic, explosive water!

My furniture is being moved there by a truck company, and I highly doubt he would survive the week long trip in back of a moving truck.


None of my friends can take my fish and I am so heartbroken right now because not only can I not take him with me, but I have no good home for him right now. Will the ASPCA some humane society take in a Beta Fish?

I'm so sorry to hear about your dilemma. I would be heartbroken too. We have a classified section here on the forum. Maybe you could offer it to a member of the forum. There might be someone here who would provide it wiith a good home.Good luck. I hope everything works out for you.

Were it me, (and it's not!) I'd ship him to San Jose via Fed Ex. Fish are being shipped all the time, all over the world. Is there anyone on the other end who can "hold" him until you arrive? If not, you could always call ahead to a LFS and ask them to take delivery of the betta until you arrive. Once again, just an idea and what I would do.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. You can have him overnighted. Kymmie is right, fish are always being shipped, you should give it a shot.
