outlet shorted out,no heat for days

So we just noticed that Elvis tank was cold! Apparently the circuit went and he had no heat for days. See i was in the hospital for a few days,so nobody took care of the fish. Other than feeding them. He looks horrible. His fins are all ragged and torn. Some look red. Hes very pale. We are moving him to the kitchen (only other place we can move him to). Right now he is in a bucket with warm water while we get it set up. We also got some bettafix. Any ideas or suggestions? Or just keep his water clean and warm,he should get better?

Im gonna go finish up his tank now. I hope he makes it. Wish i didnt end up in the hospital then i wouldve noticed. Darn it.

aww, i really hope he gets better soon. how long has he been in the warm water for so far?

Hmm probably about 30-45 mins or so. He seemed to perk up when I put him in the warmer water. Still looks horrible though. I just set up his tank down in the kitchen,its a tad too warm now,like 84 so gotta let it cool down some before I put him in. I put in the dosage for his tank.

BettaFix should help with the fins. When I used it, my guy hated it but it helped. If you are treating him in his usual tank, make sure to clean it up really well when the treatment is over.
You can also use aquarium salt to help. Just keep on top of keeping his tank clean and he'll start healing up rather quickly!

Yeah I took out the stones for substrate,plants and decoration. I will clean it good when its done. Oh okay, I do have aquarium salt,didnt think of that. Thanks AngelicScars!

It sounds like it was from the fluctuating temps. I had one a few years ago that this happened to. We had trouble with our air conditioner and the temp went up and down. My fish got finrot and I used Bettafix and he got better. I agree that a little aquarium salt may help. Poor Elvis! lol

Lol thanks. Wish it was under better circumstances. Elvis is staying at the top in one corner of his tank. I feel so bad.
