Some people (or rather their fish) have had bad reactions to Bettafix or Melafix. I would just keep an eye on him and if he acts weird or like he doesn't feel good then you could stop using it. I don't know anything about blackwater extract or what it's supposed to do.

It could be. When I used Melafix on Oscar, he went straight to the bottom and I think was breathing kind of heavy if I remember correctly.

Well i changed his water. Cleaned his tank good. He is now back in and with the blackwater extract. Didnt really seem to change the water color much, but i dunno maybe it did lol. He seems happier. Swimming around more. Not staying at the top gasping for air. I changed his air pump so now its quiet haha. Other one was noisy as heck. He seems to like the bubbles. He is at 78 degrees right now, should go up to 80. Ill keep an eye on that so it doesnt get too warm.

Yup he was. He wouldnt leave the top area of the tank at all. Now he is all over the place. Even playing in the bubbles. I saw him sitting on the bubble wall even. Guess it feels good lol. A bit of red still on the ends of his fins, but I do see white as well. So hopefully the blackwater stuff will help them heal up too. I put in salt as well.

How often ya suppose I should change his water now? Since clean water is the key and all.

Is it cycled? I have a 4 gallon uncycled tank and I do a partial once a week and a full cleaning once a month.
