I think a standard 5 gallon tank is perfect for one betta by himself :)

I enjoy seeing divided ten gallons with contrasting themes(like black and white).

If I am housing 1 betta alone I like the smaller tanks (2.5-5 gallons) it's the easiest thing to clean. If each of my bettas was in a 10 gallon that would be a lot of work.
But if I had a divided tank. A divided 10 gallon would be cool with the themes.

I have three 30 litre (8 gallon) tanks for each little boy & have found them to be just wonderful.Lots of space, plenty of room for hideouts, plants etc and great to heat, clean & filter.

I also have a 50 litre tank of the same brand put away as I love these style of tanks, but they are unfortunately being deleted & replaced with a new (and IMO inferior) tank range.

I love community tanks, so I tend to go with larger tanks. However, I also have a variety of 3/4 to 1.8 gallon bowls and tanks for new fish, sick fish, and males. When you need a fish to be by itself for any reason, then the smaller tanks are ideal, because they are easier to clean and upkeep, not to mention easier to catch the little finny critters when you're trying to change water, decor, or medicate.
