Will a betta "greet" you?

My sons betta...so cute. When she sees me or him she'll puff out her fins (I guess pectoral or her gill cover?) as if to say "hi how ya doing?" It's kinda cute. Is this normal?

Yes, its called flaring. Bettas will flare at different things: their heater, other fish, different objects like earrings, etc.

They normally do that. Some bettas just flare for fun :)

my other fish do, and will crash into the calm betta when they do, so he keeps away from them and greets/watches me when they are off doing...whatever goldfish do

My betta is slow to greet me some days, however in the tank he is in they ALL greet me, I think its hunger driven, after all you are the one that brings food to them....

Haha. Aww, that's cute.

But goldfish don't really make great tank mates for Bettas. Bettas like their water to be much warmer.
Just a tip for the longevity of your fish.
