Question Cycling questions?

I cycling my 10 gallon tank with everything check, so i cleaned 75%-80% water and added clean water and when i added it to the tank i tested it and my ammonia is 0ppm my nirIte 5 ppm and my nirAte is 160 ppm and then my pH is 7.6 ppm.
Why is my nirIte so high???
And how do you lower/higher pH if needed?

Btw no one is in the tank right now Rubin my betta is the only one who will be in the 10 gallon for now!

Test your source water so you have a baseline . If the source water shows 0's for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate then the aquarium has not finished cycling If the source water is positive for nitrites and /or nitrates you have to consider a different water supply. A nitrate of 160 ppm is way out of what is reasonable for aquarium or drinking purposes

A nitrate reading of 160ppm sounds like a testing error. Shake shake shake the #2 nitrate test bottle and follow the directions carefully.
